Los Angeles Angel City Jazz Festival Announces Schedule Posted

The Angel City Jazz Festival in Los Angeles has announced the lineup for its Oct. 2—9 event. This festival features free-jazz veterans and young performers in six venues and also includes film, art, dance, poetry and food.
This festival’s main event is an outdoor concert on Oct. 3 at the John Anson Ford Amphitheatre featuring the Ravi Coltrane/Ralph Alessi Quintet, Wadada Leo Smith’s Golden Quartet with Vijay Iyer, Sons of Champignon, Vinny Golia Sextet and Kneebody. Another event is a collaborative showcase with the Myra Melford Trio, Japanese butoh dancer Oguri, bassist Mark Dresser and chef Paul Canales at Royal/T on Oct. 4. Nels Cline and David Breskin will premiere their interpretation of Los Angeles artist Ed Ruscha’s paintings on Oct. 7 at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art on Oct. 7.
